Press Your Luck would move to mid-afternoon in January
1986 to make room on the CBS morning schedule for their
revival of Card Sharks, but as far as I'm concerned, this was
when the show "jumped the shark". The board took on a
completely different color scheme, consisting of navy
blue, lime green, brownish-orange, and aqua blue.

In October, the $500 with a spin in square 10 was upped
to $750, and the Add-a-One was introduced. In November,
Add-a-One moved to square 7.

Here's how the round 2 board looked with the new color
scheme. Those new colors didn't look too attractive when I
first saw them, but many of the old-colored slides were
damaged in a power surge in September 1985.

switched with the $470 back to square 5 in March. Also
in March, the prize in 13 was replaced by $750 for a

Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? It
looks like the stakes have been lowered, not raised. In fact,
that $1400 in square 10 was changed to $1000 after just
two shows. And yes, someone did land on Move-One-Space
and had to chose between $1500 and $500.
